Car Wash Tunnel Conveyor Systems Benefit from the use of a Keyless Locking Device

A Keyless Locking Device from Climax provides an alternative to traditional keyed connections in car wash tunnel conveyor applications proving to be cost-effective and maintenance-friendly.

Car Wash Tunnel Conveyor System

Tunnel Conveyor System in Car Wash

Providing customers a seamless car wash ensures that they leave the facility happy and with a clean car. Although the requirement for equipment maintenance may seem daunting and costly, proper maintenance of a car wash is extremely important in providing a positive experience. Many car wash facilities incorporate the use of an underground tunnel conveying system that moves the vehicle through the washing process. Typically this type of car wash system can reach upwards of a half-million dollars in equipment.

Traditionally, manufacturers use a keyed connection to mount the chain sprocket to shafting. Shaft/hub connections in the car wash conveying systems are subjected to harsh and strenuous loads which can lead to shaft fatigue (more…)

Hydraulic Motor & Conveyor Systems Benefit With the Use of Keyless Rigid Couplings

Climax Keyless Rigid Couplings provide a superior solution for shaft mounted hydraulic motors and gearboxes over traditional approaches in timber conveying applications.

KLD Hydraulic Motor Conveyor SystemsTraditional methods used to shaft mount hydraulic motors and/or gearboxes in conveyor application such as wood chippers; include the need for brackets and expensive structures to support the motor. Failure to properly align shafts in these applications can lead to premature coupling failure. Additionally, misalignment can lead to hydraulic motor leaks and total bearing failures due to inordinate facial loads on the motor bearings, resulting in maintenance issues and downtime consequently affecting production and profitability. Even when these components are properly aligned these connections are subjected to outside elements that can affect alignment.

Climax Series C600 Keyless Rigid Couplings provide the desired high torque and bending capacity required for conveyor applications thus eliminating bearing and motor failure. Shaft mounting the drive ensures that shafts are in perfect alignment, removing the chance of hydraulic motor leaks (more…)

KLDs Provide Productivity Solutions for High Speed Index Packaging Machinery

Packaging MachineryKeyless Locking Devices (KLDs) ensure required positional accuracy and repeatability is achieved from drive line components, and eliminate keyed connection failure.

When high volumes are desired the most common approach is through the use of high speed index packaging machinery. These machines are capable of performing simultaneous actions at multiple stages of the production process, consequently reducing cycle times. The strenuous demands on the machines, especially the requirement of positional accuracy and repeatability from its drive line components, can cause keyed connections to wear out, become out of sync, and break down over time.

Climax Keyless Locking Devices are designed to use in place of keyed (more…)

Optimal Solution for Mining Belt Conveyor Systems

Climax Keyless Locking Devices provide advantages over keyed connections. Mining OEMs incorporate keyless connections in equipment design.

KLD large DrumDrum pulleys, especially head or tail pulleys, using traditional keyed connections introduce several compromises. Whenever a shaft is keyed, it must be oversized to account for the loss of effective cross section. This adds weight and cost not only to the shaft, but to every component on the shaft. Once assembled, keyways are susceptible to fretting, corrosion, and allow backlash. QD, XT, or taper-lock bushings do not transmit reversing bending moments and are susceptible to shaft fatigue failure originating at the keyways. Climax KLDs eliminate the need for keyways reducing downtime and loss of profit while allowing the use of smaller shafting and components. KLDs provide a longer life for both mine duty and engineered class conveyor pulleys.

Mining machinery is constantly subjected (more…)
